Megan Fox always enjoys physical action roles in her career.

After bursting into the cinema screen with Transformers, she had plenty of action films under her belt from Jonah Hex to Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles series.

Now she turns to play a battle-hardened mercenary in Rogue. (Yes, I can’t imagine her as a bad-ass soldier, but she is in this movie.)

The film also stars Philip Winchester, Jessica Sutton, Calli Taylor, Brandon Auret, Adam Deacon, and Sisanda Henna. M.J. Bassett (Solomon Kane, Ash vs Evil Dead) directed the movie from her script written with Isabel Bassett.

Here’s the official synopsis:

As team leader Samantha O’Hara, she leads a lively squad of soldiers on a daring mission: rescue hostages from their captors in remote Africa. But as the mission goes awry and the team is stranded, O’Hara’s squad must face a bloody, brutal encounter with a gang of rebels, and the horde of ravenous, enraged lions they encounter.

Lionsgate will release the film On Demand and digital on August 28. A September 1 release date for Blu-ray and DVD formats follows a few days later.

The studio released its first trailer for the movie that shows the non-stop action for the merc squad. It appears after the semi-botched rescue, the film blends war action with the African warlord’s rebels with the horrors of being hunted by a group of lions.
