The Umbrella Academy Season 2 trailer is here. The sophomore season of the show hits Netflix on July 31st. Frankly, season 2 looks as bat s**t crazy as Season 1 was. The Hargreeves children stopped the apocalypse in Season 1, kinda. Five used his powers to remove the Hargreeves from the current timeline. The problem is, it seems that they all ended up in different places. And there’s another problem, it seems that the apocalypse, and the Commission has followed them. Check it out.

Five warned his family (so, so many times) that using his powers to escape from Vanya’s 2019 apocalypse was risky. Well, he was right – the time jump scatters the siblings in time in and around Dallas, Texas. Over a three year period. Starting in 1960. Some, having been stuck in the past for years, have built lives and moved on, certain they’re the only ones who survived. Five is the last to land, smack dab in the middle of a nuclear doomsday, which – spoiler alert! – turns out is a result of the group’s disruption of the timeline (déjà vu, anyone?). Now the Umbrella Academy must find a way to reunite, figure out what caused doomsday, put a stop to it, and return to the present timeline to stop that other apocalypse. All while being hunted by a trio of ruthless Swedish assassins. But seriously, no pressure or anything.

I guess what I am keen to see most this season is some reasoning behind the Commission. This organisation seems pretty intent on making sure there is an apocalypse. It’s also pretty clear that in their timeline, their society grew after this apocalyptic event. Are the Commission making sure they continue to exist in the future? I have never read any of The Umbrella Academy graphic novels, so I have no idea where the story is going in Season 2. However it seems like the assassination of President Kennedy, and the threat of Nuclear War are tying up the team this time around.
