Even though we still do not have any concrete answers on whether Henry Cavill is in or out as the Man of Steel, people have been talking about what it would be like if Black Panther‘s Michael B. Jordan donned the famous cape.  Even though he has quite the schedule spanning the next few years, he did speak with MTV about what he would bring to the role if given the chance.

“Anything I do dive in has gotta be done the right way. It has to be full of authenticity. I’m a fan of comic books, you know? I understand the fans being upset at… ‘Oh no, why are doing this and why are they changing that?’ I would feel the same way about certain things. So, just know, if I ever were to dabble in anything, it would be authentic and something that I feel like people would really support.”

This wouldn’t be Jordan’s first stint as a comic character as he is obviously known for his role as Erik Kilmonger in 2018’s Black Panther and many will also remember that he played Johnny Storm, aka The Human Torch, in 2015’s Fantastic 4.  He is an extremely talented actor and knows the importance of being able to make a role his own while having a strong foundation to the authenticity of the source material.  Now, this doesn’t rule out the fact that he would be opposed to playing Clark Kent, but he previously told Oprah that he would feel more comfortable playing a different version of Superman. Jordan told her, “It’s tough. I hate being a businessman and understanding both sides of the situation. There is a huge upside to it, but being under that microscope, being picked apart and compared to so many different versions of Superman… I would rather do something original. I’ll be Calvin Ellis.”

Either way, I think it would be a pretty cool take.  The man loves comics and knows what it feels like to be a fan and how important the roles he takes are to the audience.  What do you think?  Would you like to see Michael B. Jordan don the cape or do you think Henry Cavill will wear the blue and red again at some point?  Leave your thoughts in the usual spot, and thanks for reading!
