Michael C. Hall On Dexter’s Return And The Series’ Original Finale

Dexter ended its twisted eight-year love affair with fans on a sour note. The series finale ended with America’s most lovable serial killer sailing his boat into a massive hurricane. And that’s where the episode should have ended. Unfortunately, it ended with a scene revealing Dexter somehow survived the hurricane. Now living in the Pacific Northwest, a bearded Dexter returns home after a hard day’s work as a lumberjack.

Not long ago it was announced that Dexter would be returning to showtime later in 2021, Michael C. Hall, who brilliantly portrayed Dexter Morgan recently spoke with The Daily Beast and revealed that bringing back his iconic character has been in the works for a while now, discussing the best way to bring Dexter back,  Hall also gave his thoughts on the series’ 2014 finale.

Michael C. Hall :

“Yeah. It’s a conversation that’s been ongoing, and different possibilities have emerged over the years. I think in this case, the story that’s being told is worth telling in a way that other proposals didn’t, and I think enough time has passed where it’s become intriguing in a way that it wasn’t before. And let’s be real: people found the way that show left things pretty unsatisfying, and there’s always been a hope that a story would emerge that would be worth telling. I include myself in the group of people that wondered, “What the hell happened to that guy?” So I’m excited to step back into it. I’ve never had that experience of playing a character this many years on.”

Dexter was at one time my favorite series, and I still recommend the series every chance I get. Fans see the decline at different points in the show. For some fans the decline in quality starts with Season 5  For others, it’s Season 6. One thing most fans do agree on is that Season 4 was the best of the series. I for one agree. It’s like the Empire Strikes Back of Dexter.
