Michael Giacchino is scoring Thor: Love and Thunder. The popular and prolific movie composer revealed his next gig with a post on social media. You can see that below.

Giacchino is never short of work and already has one of the most impressive resumes in the business. The composer has dipped his toes into the worlds of Star Wars, MCU, Jurassic Park, Star Trek, Pixar and more. The most recent film score from Giacchino is Spider-Man: No Way Home which hits theatres next week finally. The soundtrack for No Way Home has been making its rounds online and there are a few spoiler within, but the score itself is fantastic.

However this does mean that Thor has a new composer for the fourth movie in a row. Not too surprising up until now, as the three Thor movies have had three different writers and directors. Thor: Love and Thunder on the other hand is once again helmed by Taika Waititi and therefore I assumed (wrongly) that Mark Mothersbaugh would be back. Still, if you have to replace the composer I guess Giacchino isn’t a bad substitute is he? I loved the 80’s early techno feel to the Ragnarok soundtrack but perhaps that won’t work as well with the story of Love and Thunder? Or, alternatively Mothersbaugh perhaps wasn’t available or Waititi just wanted Giacchino?
