Millions of ‘90s kids around the world have grown up with the Mighty Ducks as our role models. This ragtag group started off as a bunch of misfits from an underfunded district who rose up to become enviable champions. They then went on to represent the U.S. in a junior hockey league, and things ended with their domination of the varsity team against a bunch of 30 year-olds at their fancy prep school.
These movies hold a place in the hearts of many, and it was only a matter of time before Disney would be rebooting it. Last year, it was reported that a series was in the works form ABC Signature Studios, and now, Discussing Film is reporting that it is being rebooted for release on Disney+.

But what will the story be about, and will it be set in the world of the original Mighty Ducks films? While I don’t know about the latter part, the outlet did have a brief synopsis:
“The series focuses on a 13-year-old boy when he gets kicked off the junior division Mighty Ducks team, his mom decides to start their own team, finding players, a coach, and a place to play.”
Based on this, it doesn’t sound like this will be a remake, and as such, I wouldn’t rule out any potential cameos from original cast members.
