Migration Takes Flight: Illumination’s Hilarious New Adventure Unveiled

This holiday season, Illumination, the creative minds behind box-office hits like Minions, Despicable Me, Sing, and The Secret Life of Pets, is set to enchant audiences with a feathered family escapade like never before in the action-packed original comedy, Migration.

The Mallard family finds themselves in a rut, with dad Mack content to paddle around their New England pond, while mom Pam yearns to introduce their kids – teen son Dax and duckling daughter Gwen – to the wonders of the world. After encountering a migrating duck family with tales of distant places, Pam persuades Mack to embark on an unforgettable family journey, starting from New York City and leading to the tropical paradise of Jamaica.

Migration

As the Mallards head south for the winter, their meticulously planned adventure takes unexpected turns. The experience becomes a catalyst for self-discovery, pushing them to make new friends, achieve the impossible, and learn more about each other than they ever imagined.

Scripted by Mike White, the Emmy-winning creator of The White Lotus and the screenwriter of School of Rock, the film features a stellar comedic cast. Oscar and Emmy nominee Kumail Nanjiani takes on the role of the anxious Mallard dad Mack, while Emmy nominee Elizabeth Banks portrays Pam, the daring matriarch. Caspar Jennings plays Dax, the confident and restless son, and Tresi Gazal makes her feature film debut as Gwen, the family’s innocent and lovable daughter.

Emmy winner and Oscar nominee Carol Kane takes on the role of Erin the heron, the Mallards’ first friend on their journey. Keegan-Michael Key voices a homesick Jamaican parrot, Emmy winner David Mitchell plays the yogic leader of a mysterious duck farm, and legendary Emmy winner and Oscar nominee Danny DeVito co-stars as Mack’s adventure-averse Uncle Dan.

Directed by Benjamin Renner, the Oscar-nominated filmmaker behind Ernest & Celestine and The Big Bad Fox and Other Tales, Migration promises to be a visual spectacle unlike any other in Illumination’s history. With elevated, expressionist artistry and Illumination’s signature subversive humor, the film boasts unforgettable characters, a joyful soundtrack, and an authentic heart that will captivate audiences of all ages.
