Two pieces of MCU news as Mike Colter talks abut his return in Daredevil: Born Again S3 and Michael Waldron pretends he’s not writing Nova. Let’s begin with Mike Colter who of course showed up in the final episode of Born Again Season 2 alongside Jessica. However, we know from those old leaked set photos that Luke Cage and Danny Rand (Finn Jones) are both more heavily involved in Season 3.
Speaking with Collider, Colter says he always had half an eye on an MCU return,
“Yeah, it was in the back of my mind somewhere,” he said. “It wasn’t in the forefront. I wasn’t actively campaigning or worrying about trying to revisit it because actors get into the business wanting to play different characters.”
“I’m not really obsessed with one particular character over the other. It’s nice to have the opportunity to play characters and move around and come back, but it was in the back of my mind.”
“I knew Charlie [Cox] was actively campaigning, so when he got the show picked back up, I thought, ‘Well, there’s a chance.’”
“It wasn’t at the forefront of my mind, but I really enjoyed playing the character. I probably enjoy it as much for the fans than anything. I think the diehard Luke Cage fans and Marvel fans enjoy these characters, so it’s bringing a bit of joy to their lives. That’s where I am on it right now. I love doing it for the people.”
It’s Like Led Zeppelin
‘He likened his return as Luke Cage to someone watching a band like Led Zeppelin or ABBA come back after years away, saying, “I met Robert Plant from Led Zeppelin years ago when I was working at a restaurant. He’d come into this restaurant that I worked at. We’d get a lot of celebs and public figures that would come in. It was in this very affluent neighborhood, and he popped in, and it was like, ‘Oh, my gosh, it’s Robert Plant.’ I recognized him and was like, ‘Wait a minute, that’s Robert Plant.'” Colter continued, explaining how he feels about returning as Luke Cage:’
Well, I know I would be starstruck if I ran into Robert Plant in a restaurant. Not sure I would with Mike Colter, but I’m guessing maybe Colter can understand that if he’s a fan of Zep.
Colter talked about other great frontmen and bands that fans love to see come back together one day, finishing with,
“I don’t care how long it takes, we will wait. And if they come back, we will be there. That’s how I feel about The Defenders and Luke Cage. If you bring it back, somebody will be interested in seeing it.”

Next up we have Marvel’s Nova movie, which trades have named Michael Waldron the writer of. However, in a recent interview with TheWrap, when pressed on this report, Waldron would only discuss the potential film in a theoretical manner.
Asked directly if he’s doing Nova, Waldron replied,
“I don’t know if I can say anything about anything I’m doing with Marvel. But I will say, I love Nova. I love Rich Rider. However we expand the cosmic side of the MCU will be really cool.”
Asked about his favourite arc the interviewer cited theirs as ‘Annihilation’.
“Annihilation’ is, I mean, I guess that’s the go-to, right? But the character spans a lot of generations, and I think maybe that’s why it’s taken some time to get him to the screen, is figuring out, where do you start that story? Do you start him on Earth? Do you start in space, as part of the Nova Corps? Whoever does it, I hope they do a good job.”
They’d have to deal with the Nova Corps being wiped out right?
“They would have to reckon with that. Yeah.”
The interviewer then repeats “They?”
“They, yeah, someone would have to reckon with that.”
Tighter than a coat of cement. However yeah, Michael Waldron is currently writing the Nova film. Does that mean it won’t see other writer’s hands before going into production? No, it’s often for Marvel to have multiple writers credited on their scripts. What we do know is that it’s not coming in 2028, but could it happen 2029? Let’s wait and see.
