I guess there are some roles some actors are born to play. In the case of Justified actor Damon Herriman, it’s Charles Manson. And no, surprisingly enough, I’m not just talking about his part as the cult leader in Quentin Tarantino’s Once Upon a Time in Hollywood. I’m actually talking about Mindhunter from Netflix.
According to Collider, actor Damon Herriman will also be playing Manson in the upcoming second season of Netflix’s dark series Mindhunter. Interestingly enough, from the sound of it, this casting was completely coincidental, with Herriman supposedly being cast much earlier for Mindhunter than for Once Upon a Time in Hollywood.

But don’t expect it to be a completely identical take. As it stands, his role in Tarantino’s film will be restricted to the year 1969, whereas his role in Mindhunter takes place in the 1980s, after he’s been locked up. Regardless, the fact that he’s been cast in the same role twice should bode well for his take. Clearly, the guy’s great at playing a crazed killer.
At this point, it’s not known when Mindhunter Season 2 will be airing on Netflix, but it seems like a good bet that it’ll be before Once Upon a Time in Hollywood‘s July 26, 2019, given that its first season hit last year (though there’s no way to confirm that now).
Given how much of a story fan Tarantino is, part of me wants to think that his world takes place in the same world as Mindhunter. It’s not completely unheard of. In the past, he played a role in allowing Michael Keaton’s take on the Elmore Leonard character Ray Nicolette both in his film Jackie Brown and another film Out of Sight.
