The latest Barside Buzz is a MODOK in Quantumania rumor from The Direct. MODOK makes his MCU debut within Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania according to the outlets sources.
According to The Direct’s sources, MODOK will be introduced to the MCU in a major role in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania. MODOK’s rumored presence in the sequel has yet to be confirmed by Marvel Studios.
The outlet also says they’ve heard a rumor posted to the Mods on a Reddit forum is incorrect. Jim Carrey is NOT playing MODOK.
Although Jim Carrey was previously rumored to take on the villain role in the MCU, The Direct can confirm that the actor is not playing MODOK in the Ant-Man threequel.
Quantumania might seems a strange place to introduce a character like MODOK. The Ant-Man threequel will also see Jonathan Majors as the proper Kang for the first time. Perhaps MODOK is someone who works f0r Kang in the MCU, and therefore didn’t really exist yet until Sylvie did her thing in Loki?
My hope with all these rumors is that Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania will have a bigger budget than the previous two Ant-Man movies did. Both movies were profitable. However with the second movie, it felt like it was made on a shoestring budget compared to most MCU movies. Given the title of the movie, rumors of Fantastic Four, and now this MODOK in Quantumania rumor, this could be huge. However until we get something official, the only character we can confirm is Kang at this point. Well, other than the recurring cast from the two previous movies that is.
