Moff Gideon Is The Warden Of The Galaxy In ‘The Mandalorian’

We are only two days away from the season premiere of The Mandalorian and we couldn’t be more excited.  As we inch closer to the new season there are so many things left to speculate on. One of course is how big of a role will Moff Gideon will play in this upcoming season. Introduced at the end of last season Moff Gideon came into the show with the aura of being the ultimate bad guy. Played by none other than Giancarlo Esposito who has made a career of playing a villain has been on the forefront promoting the new season of The Mandalorian. It was earlier this week when he appeared on Good Morning America that he got to talk briefly about Moff Gideon which you can see below.

Of course there wasn’t much to go off on this interview except for one little phrase that Giancarlo Esposito mentions is that Moff Gideon is the Warden of the Galaxy. For a causal Star Wars fan this means pretty much nothing but for fans that are invested in the universe of Star Wars it is pretty interesting. After the fall of the Emperor in Return of the Jedi we don’t really know who is left in charge.

If you go by the end of the movie then you assume that the entire Empire has collapsed and the Rebellion has won. If you played the single player campaign on Battlefront 2 then you know that Vice Admiral Sloane was left in charge of the Empire. If you read the books prior to The Force Awakens then you learn that the Empire never really died and Emperor Palpatine resurrected the Empire through The First Order.

There is a brief time period post the Battle of Jakku that has been unknown of who was actually in charge of the remnants of the Empire. It seems now we know that person is none other than Moff Gideon. Through this self proclaimed title and rank we know that the leader of the Empire is the one after The Child. This means that it is just more than one man in search of The Child, it is an entire army after the youngling. Of course what makes this even more interesting is Moff Gideon possession of the Dark Saber which means he is the leader of Mandalore. What is supposed to be a time of peace and tranquility with the Republic restored doesn’t seem that way in the Outer Rim of the galaxy.
