Monica Rambeau (Teyonah Parris) is one of the many standout characters in WandaVision. Seeing an adult version of the adorable girl who helped Captain Marvel choose her suit colors is a real treat. It continues the tradition of connectivity between Marvel characters across different titles. This is truly the glue that makes the Marvel Cinematic Universe feel like it has a true history and depth.
The last time WE saw Monica Rambeau and Carol Danvers (Brie Larson) together was when Monica was a child. But, WandaVision infers that something between 1995 and the modern day MCU tarnished the friendship between the two women.
The main evidence of this is the look she gives Darcy Lewis (or was it Woo?) when Captain Marvel is brought up as someone who gave Thanos a run for his money in Avengers: Endgame. This being in relation to how Wanda’s powers are so great she almost the destroyed the Mad Titan by herself.
In an interview with ET Canada, Parris addresses the fact that Monica Rambeau and Carol Danvers will have to squash their beef:
As you know, I was announced to be joining the cast of Captain Marvel 2 with Brie Larson and Iman Vellani as Kamala Khan. I do believe that we’re going to get more into that relationship and what’s going on with those two.
With Monica Rambeau now possessing powers of her own after Episode 7 of WandaVision, hopefully the pair can squash the beef without smashing eachother.
Now, many assumptions can be made as to what alienated the two friends. Perhaps it is because Monica hasn’t seen Carol even as her mother lay dying? Or, is it something bigger with deeper consequences?
Only time will tell, with Captain Marvel 2 currently slated for November 11, 2022.
Until then, we have two more episodes of WandaVision to unravel!
