Moon Knight’s Oscar Isaac On Why He Took The Role

Moon Knight Writer Talks Influences And The Support Of Kevin Feige

Moon Knight is one of the many new MCU Disney+ shows coming and filming has been taking place. Now Moon Knight‘s Oscar Isaac explains why he took the role. Isaac has already stepped into the Marvel world, though with Fox on their X-Men movies, the experience wasn’t great, and neither was the movie. So what made Isaac decide to come back to that world for Moon Knight? Isaac spoke to Slashfilm recently.

“It’s not so much about the genre of things. It’s the people. And is there room to do something interesting in it? And sometimes there is, and you think there will be. And sometimes it turns out there isn’t. So with this – I love the people involved. I thought there was an incredibly unusual story to tell within the world of, you know, the superhero language. But we’re making something that’s quite different, and that doesn’t follow the same…not necessarily even logic of what a lot of superhero films do. I think because of that, I just found an opportunity to do something that I’ve not done at all yet, and to have a lot of creative collaboration with the rest of the people making it.”

It makes sense that a character as complex as Moon Knight would stray from the normal MCU formula. Moon Knight definitely inhabits the creepier side of the Marvel comics and with Werewolf by Night rumored to appear, and then get his own show, there’s a lot of room for this version of Moon Knight to grow. Isaac is an actor who I like, when he’s not in big franchises. I won’t get into his turn as Apocalypse, but I didn’t care much for Poe Dameron either in Star Wars. I sincerely hope that Marc Spector is a character with enough depth to show his acting chops.
