There are more Marvel video games coming from EA in a new deal between the software giant and Marvel Games. The amount of big video games around the Marvel Universe has been low considering the juggernaut that the MCU is. Recently we did get Marvel’s Avengers, which was pretty poor in my opinion. Plus, Guardians of the Galaxy, which I’ve not played, but it gets good word of mouth. However outside of cheap mobile games, or Spider-Man which is tied up as an exclusive with Sony, there hasn’t been a ton of AAA titles by any means.

Check out the announcement post below from Marvel Games.

We’re thrilled to announce a multi-title collaboration between Marvel and EA to develop action-adventure games for consoles and PC! Each game will also be its own original story set in the Marvel Universe.

I guess for me the only downside is that EA are involved. I can’t say EA titles ever fill me with any enthusiasm. Creativity and passion seems to have been replaced by cookie cutters and bugs over in EA. The exclusive Star Wars deal didn’t go so well, with Jedi: Fallen Order being the highlight, though not my cup of tea. The Marvel Universe is so ripe for action-adventure games. I’m just not sure I’ll be getting to excited with EA involved. But hey, that’s me, and you readers may feel differently?

If I think about great superhero games such as the Batman Arkham games and the Sony Spider-Man games, then there is a lot could be done with the Marvel IP. An Iron Man focused AAA game in the style of Arkham would be great. Equally, I’d love the idea of a Fantastic Four game as good as Spider-Man. However I’ll wait and see what the buzz is before jumping into any EA game, that’s non-negotiable for me. As a big fan of football, aka soccer I’ve stopped buying EA’s annual FIFA franchise because it’s just the same game, with the same bugs and different team rosters every year. I won’t buy it again until they’ve improved all the career mode games as right now they can be unplayable and were better 20 years ago.
