The X-Files, which recently concluded its eleventh season, will not be returning for a twelfth. Michael Thorn, president of Fox Entertainment revealed the network has no plans to continue the show. I have quite enjoyed the revival of X-Files and thought the episodes were as good as ever. This decision may in part stem from Gillian Anderson, who plays Agent Dana Scully on the show confirming she is done playing the character.
While Mulder and Scully’s search for the truth looks to be over, a couple of other beloved Fox properties will be returning, Prison Break, being one of them.
President of Fox Entertainment, Michael Thorn:
“Prison Break is in early stages of development. We are focusing on getting the next iteration right.”
The first season of Prison Break is the first show I remember binging, I could not shake the habit of, “Just one more episode.” Now that it has its first revival season under its belt, Fox seems to be carefully choosing where they take the Prison Break next. The groundbreaking show 24 is also said to be coming back. Even after a failed spin-off in 24: Legacy, a few years ago, Fox is moving forward with plans for a new season of 24. There may perhaps even be multiple seasons of the show in the works.
