More Zombies Coming To AMC From Robert Kirkman In New Walking Dead Series

Fans of decomposing flesh-eating corpses can be excited as there are more zombies coming down the pipe. AMC has green-lit a third series from the world of The Walking Dead. This iteration will focus on female protagonists in a post-apocalyptic world. Also, production will take place in the Commonwealth of Virginia.

The new series is currently slated to begin production this summer 2019 and we can expect a premiere in 2020. The first season will be comprised of ten episodes. Chief content officer Scott Gimple said in a statement: “showing audiences an unseen pocket of The Walking Dead Universe steeped in a new mythology is a very cool way to celebrate a ‘Decade of the Dead’ on TV and over fifteen years of Robert Kirkman’s brilliant comic,”.

The latest spin-off from The Walking Dead should be in good hands as current Walking Dead show-runner Matt Negrete will oversee. When commenting on his excitement for the new series Negrete said: “I can’t wait for the fans of the franchise to see what we’ve been cooking up,”.

The Walking Dead sure has come a long way since the days Shawshank Redemption director Frank Darabont helped adapt the story of Rick Grimes and a band of survivors from Robert Kirkman’s Image published comic book series. That was in 2010. Since then the series has undergone a number of changes and showrunners. But it does seem that the series has once again found its footing. With Fear The Walking Dead already in its fifth season, this will be the third TV series from the creative well of AMC and Kirkman. Are you looking forward to more zombies on AMC? It’s spreading throughout the network.
