A new relaunch of the popular fighting games will start with Mortal Kombat 1.

During the Gamescom opening night presentation, Warner Brothers Games presented its reveal trailer that showcased General Shao and Sindel as playable characters. Also, Motaro and Shujinko are confirmed as Kameo fighters in the game.

The list of other playable characters will include Liu Kang, Sub-Zero, Scorpion, Kitana, Johnny Cage, Kenshi Takahashi, Kung Lao, Mileena, Raiden, Rain, Smoke, Li Mei, Baraka, Tanya, Geras, Reptile, Havik, and Ashrah.

The complete list of Kameo fighters isn’t revealed yet at this time. Kameo fighters are a unique roster of partner fighters who assist the main fighter during matches, creating expanded gameplay possibilities for players. Kameos dramatically enhance every fight, assisting teammates with their own Special Moves, Throws, and defensive Breakers.

Mortal Kombat 1 is described as a “reborn Mortal Kombat Universe created by the Fire God Liu Kang.”

The game is built on NetherRealm Studios technology with oversight by NetherRealm. The NetherRealm developed the PlayStation and Xbox versions of the game. QLOC created the Steam and Epic Games store versions of the game. And Shiver Entertainment and Saber Interactive are developing the Nintendo Switch version of the game.

Mortal Kombat 1 will be available for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch, and PC. Its launch date is September 19.
