The pandemic has made upcoming Marvel Studios projects questionable. Yes, they’ll happen eventually, but it’s impossible to tell when the studio will actually be able to go back to normal. This has left us clueless about their current status. Two projects, in particular, are Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness and Ms. Marvel. According to Murphy’s Multiverse, these two projects missed their intended start dates amid the pandemic.
But when can we expect them to start picking up the process? While we have no news on Doctor Strange’s latest adventure, we do have news regarding one Kamala Khan. The outlet states that the casting process for Ms. Marvel has started for the leading role. Actors have been called back and the actual whittling down of the prospects will reportedly start.
Yes, this is a confirmation that they have yet to cast the fangirl superhero. Based on the time and effort they’re putting into this, they really want to make sure they get her casting right. Given the real lack of representation in the MCU for some demographics, they have to ensure the decisions they make are the right ones, sadly. But what does this mean for production?
To my shock, Murphy believes sooner rather than later is a possibility. Given the timing of the casting process and the slow reopening of Atlanta, a production start by the end of summer is supposedly possible. While I’m not sure I’d be that optimistic, all signs do point to the industry picking up sooner rather than later. We’ll be keeping an eye on the landscape in the weeks to come, but Murphy has proven to be an accurate source of info in the past.
