Ms Marvel looks set to have a flashback to Kamala’s great-grandparents. Ms Marvel News on Twitter reports that Fawad Khan and Mehwish Hayat will be playing Hasan and Aisha, Kamala Khan’s great-grandparents, in a flashback scene. This could be an adaptation of a scene from the comics. In that comic her great-grandparents are shown to be headed to Pakistan during the partition of India. If the source is correct and these actors (check them below) have been cast, then it’s a good bet it’s for this scene.

There is also a bit of speculation around the fan base. Specifically whether this news could mean a little more for the MCU version of Kamala? Unlike her comic counterpart, it appears Kamala’s powers in the MCU are energy based. Some fans have suggested this power may work in conjunction with her bangles. The bangles were handed down to Kamala through her ancestors. In the comic they are just ancestral heirlooms and important for her personally. Some fans are speculating that this could actually be a source of Kamala’s powers passed down? However let’s be clear that this is purely speculative. The only claimed news here is the casting and possible roles they are playing.

I just have that sinking feeling I’m not going to love Ms Marvel, but Marvel Studios have shocked me before. The character of Kamala is so new in comparison to my old comic reading days, maybe I just need to wait and see? There definitely appears to be plenty of Ms Marvel fans out there and I hope this show delivers what they are looking for. Without seeing even a trailer I’ve got this show aimed at kids in my head. I know that’s unfair until we see something. Even if that is the case, I’m okay with not every Marvel project suiting me.
