Murder On The Orient Express Trailer: Everyone Is A Suspect In Kenneth Branagh’s New Film!

Agatha Christie is considered to be one of the greatest mystery and crime novelists to have ever existed. From stories like The ABC Murders to And Then There Were None, there’s a reason why she became known as the Queen of Crime. Her formula of isolated murders and countless suspects has since been parodied, mimicked, and reimagined several times over in the decades since her work’s been published.

Of course, Christie’s work has been adapted several times over into video games, TV shows, and TV movies. One of the more recent quality adaptations came in the form of the BBC mini-series And Then There Were None. However, despite the abundance of content, it’s been a good while since Hollywood’s taken a stab at one of her stories.

The latest adaptation comes in the form of Murder on the Orient Express — one of her best known pieces to date. The fact that it’s getting a new film is exciting enough, but the talent involved makes the project all the more exciting. Helming the film is Thor and Cinderella director Kenneth Branagh (who also stars in the film as Poirot), and penning the script is Michael Green, the man behind such screenplays as Logan, the upcoming Blade Runner 2049, and the TV series American Gods. That’s not even mentioning the amazing cast that consists of Johnny Depp, Michelle Pfeiffer, Penélope Cruz, Daisy Ridley, Josh Gad, Willem Dafoe, and Judi Dench.

The trailer itself takes its time, but it does a great job of setting the scene. A train cuts its way through a gorgeous snow-covered mountainous terrain. Following the voice-over of Detective Hercule Poirot, we hear as cream, and a passenger is confirmed dead. We are then treated to an amazing stylistic flare, with the camera acting as Poirot’s point of view as he makes his way through the cabin. As he eyes each of the passengers, they all say their piece on the murder, and lines of text pop up underneath them showing their “title” in this tale.

Among them are the professor, the butler, the count, the assistant, the governess, the missionary, the widow, the salesman, the maid, the doctor, and the princess. Everyone is a suspect.

The official synopsis for Murder on the Orient Express is below:
