NatGeo’s The Deepest Cave Exclusive Clip

The Deepest Cave

Besides the deep blue sea, the Earth’s deepest caverns are one of the last places for explorers on this planet. In National Geographic’s The Deepest Cave, a team of explorers descends into the cavernous pit of Cheve Cave in Oaxaca, Mexico, to prove it’s the deepest cave in the world.

It takes a brave international team led by 68-year-old explorer and entrepreneur Bill Stone. To document this expedition, National Geographic asked cinematographer and director Pablo Durana to tag along to document this feat.

Here is the official synopsis:

This incredible adventure is a feat of true exploration.  Exploring caves is the last terrestrial frontier. Putting your foot on terrain never seen or experienced by anyone else and reaching the bottom of the deepest cave in the world would be one of the greatest achievements of modern exploration. In order to do so, the team pushed the boundaries of what has been done before on an unprecedented scale—to explore The Deepest Cave on Earth.

With limited resources, light, changing temperatures, and without proper direction, the brave men and women descend into the unknown squeezing through tight crevices and setting up remote resource camps along the way. This three-month journey takes the team into a maze of caverns seeking the bottom to prove that it is the deepest cavern in the world—possibly risking their lives.

The Deepest Cave premieres on National Geographic on Monday, May 30, at 10/9c. The film is on the streaming platform Disney+ at a later date.
