Many of us movie buffs have a love-hate relationship with Nicolas Cage. We either love to hate him and his films or hate that we love him and some of his films. I fall more toward the latter. There’s a time and a place to take in a viewing of a Cage flick, however, most of those times occurred during the decade of the 1990s.
Ok, maybe I’m being a bit harsh on old Nic as he has hung around Hollywood’s A-list for some time now. He has to be doing something right, right? Surprisingly, one of Cage’s biggest films, National Treasure has somehow avoided the ScreenJunkies Honest Trailer treatment, until now.
To cut to the chase, you can find said trailer below, just in time for the election. Enjoy!

Hah! I never noticed the similarities between Ben Gates and Adam West’s detective skills. The ‘starring ‘section was also above average for this installment of the series. The over-the-top conspiracy was a nice addition as well.
I enjoy these films as simple as parts of them may be. I’m a sucker for anything with a map and a treasure, tie it to American history and I’m all in. While not perfect the two films were fun and entertaining adventures in classic Disney style. The franchise reportedly has a series in development with a focus on younger characters, so we’ll have to see how that project shapes up as time goes on, though I’m not hopeful considering the reported teenage aspect.
