Netflix And Apple Have Had Discussions To Potentially Acquire MGM

The Streaming Wars have officially begun, and with it, we’ve seen a lot o big entertainment giants start to consolidate their content under one banner. Disney is pulling their content from all the streamers. NBCUniversal the same. And so on. Everyone is building up their content, competing for your subscription dollars, and that’s left some primo smaller companies potentially up for grabs.

One such studio is MGM. Of course, MGM has quite the film history behind it, but one huge potential get is its library of James Bond movies, and CNBC sees it as a logical candidate to sell this year. After having a tough time in 2010, it’s not reportedly worth an estimated $10 billion.

Furthermore, they’ve reportedly had preliminary talks with companies like Apple and Netflix regarding a potential acquisition. It also owns the network cable Epix.

Of course, this isn’t exactly a sure thing. There are many unpredictable ways this whole thing can shake out, and as time goes on, we’re seeing strategies shift left and right — though mass consolidation of all the smaller studios does seem like the most logical way for things to go.

What do you think? Would you want MGM to be sold to some of the bigger streamers? Let us know your thoughts down below!
