Nostalgia. If you like it, Disney is serving it up. As much as I love Disney+, there’s no doubt that it’s not very interested in pushing challenging and unique content. Instead, it’s interested in capitalizing on pre-established properties for us to roll around in like catnip. And, obnoxiously enough, I’m actually pretty okay with it. Challenge me on Netflix or HBO, but don’t you dare try and give me anything but comfort food on Disney+.

It’s because of that I wasn’t at all surprised when we heard talk of a Mighty Ducks series. That’s right, a series following a new band of young kids trying to make names for themselves in the world of hockey. Many of us grew up with the film series, and many of us would gladly return. Now, we may have yet another reason to return.

According to The Illuminerdi, Emilio Estevez is set to return as Gordon Bombay. And this won’t just be an appearance either. The outlet states that he is a series regular on the ten-episode, thirty-minute show, so we’d expect to see a decent amount of them.

Below is what we heard of the synopsis from Discussing Film this past November.

“The series focuses on a 13-year-old boy when he gets kicked off the junior division Mighty Ducks team, his mom decides to start their own team, finding players, a coach, and a place to play.”
