A trailer has dropped for Netflix’s virtual fan event called, Geeked Week which will be taking place from June 6th to June 10th. While we saw some shots from some of our returning anticipated series like Stranger Things and The Umbrella Academy, one moment at the end stood out from The Sandman. You can check it out below!
In the trailer, we can hear Tom Sturridge’s Dream of the Endless saying “Sandman’s coming… trust me”. Then at the end of the trailer, we see our first look at Gwendoline Christie as Lucifer on screen. Our first image of this version of Lucifer came last fall during the DC FanDome event.
This is one of The Sadman‘s most anticipated characters from the story who plays a very important role in the Dream’s story. Also, its a name that a lot of audiences are familiar with. No, not because they go to church but because they are fans of the series, Lucifer which wrapped up last year. Here the character was played by Tom Ellis. But it is important to note that this version of the character and that one of the previous series are not connected.

Here Lucifer leaves behind the slick suites that we are used to and instead sees the Lord of Hell dressed in white with wings folded back. By the looks of the background, I would speculate that they are in hell. The aesthetic of the scene also looks like it is something straight out of a Neil Gaiman book, which I am sure fans would appreciate.
While there is currently no release date for The Sandman, we can expect more information about the series during Netflix’s Geeked Week. Be sure to follow along as each day of this Netflix showcase is going to have a dedicated theme. Overall there will be over 60 projects that will be covered. They will include cast reveals, talent appearances, trailer premeires, sneak peaks, and surprise announcements. You can visit their website for more information.
