Slowly but surely, Netflix is starting to make waves on the more pretentious side of the film industry. After a few years of getting snubbed at the Oscars, last night saw Alfonso Cuáron’s Roma win in a few key categories, including Best Director and Best Cinematography, cementing the streaming giant’s place beyond just subscriber numbers. But it’s by no means all they have to offer in the near future.
For quite some time now, Martin Scorsese’s next directorial effort, The Irishman, has been making waves as another big project to look forward to from film fans. Honestly, we’ve been hearing about it for so long, that it’s gotten to the point where I’ve almost forgotten about it actually getting in front of cameras soon. Well, this new teaser is for people just like me.

In it, we are treated to some stylized titles featuring the names of some of the greats of gangster films, including Robert De Niro, Joe Pesci, Al Pacino, and Harvey Keitel. Making up the “i” in each of these names is a bullet casing. The trailer is devoid of any flourishes like actual footage from the movie, but in the wake of the Oscars high, it’s the perfect project to really remind folks that they’re in this business for the long haul.
