With the success of Marvel Studio’s Black Panther, which saw a record breaking theatrical run, the services of co-writer of the movie Joe Robert Cole and Michael B. Jordan have been in high demand. They had pitched a project to make a film based on the Vault Comics Failsafe.
Deadline has reported that the auction for Failsafe has been won by Netflix. Sources have put the deal in the seven figure range. It will be produced by Cole and has the potential to star Jordan. But we will have to wait and see if that happens due to his schedule. Jordan is currently working on Creed 2 and other projects through his Outlier Society Productions company. As the film gets closer to production he will decide if he will be able to star in the film or not. Even if he does not star in the film he will still serve as a producer alongside Alana Mayo and Vault Comics’ F.J. Desanto.
Vault Comics’ Failsafe debuted on April 19th, 2017 and was created by DeSanto, Federico Dallocchio and Todd Farmer. Here is the synopsis of the story provided by Vault Comics:
When he executed the last nanotech-enhanced super soldier, John Ravane thought that was the end of the haywire Insurgence Program. Ten years later, in the wake of social unrest, its true legacy is revealed. As sleeper agents scattered throughout the country activate, Ravane must stand between a government he cannot trust and the soldiers he once hunted.
It will be interesting to see this film develop and if in fact Jordan does star in it as it will bring it a lot of attention. It seems like an interesting story that would fit well on Netflix’s platform.
