The once cancelled, now resurrected by Netflix series Designated Survivor has released its trailer for its upcoming third season at its new, streaming service home. After being cancelled by ABC last May, Netflix picked up both seasons and decided to continue the series, adding it to its expanding library.

The series stars Kiefer Sutherland as Tom Kirkman, a low-level cabinet member who is suddenly made the President of the Untied States after a terrorist attack occurs during the State of the Union, murdering all those that were ahead of him in the succession line. Within those two seasons, Kirkman works to mend the country after the attack and attempts to gain the trust of the public and political figures throughout the nation–all while a potential conspiracy connected to the terrorist attack continues against President Kirkman. In season 3, President Kirkman faces the campaign trail filled with smear tactics, debates, campaign finance, and the ever popular “fake news” as he attempts to remain the leader of the free world.

The series also stars Adnan Canto, Italia Ricci, Kal Penn, and Maggie Q, whose character joins the CIA this season in an attempt to thwart a potential biochemical attack. Veteran actor Anthony Edwards (Top Gun, ER) will be joining the cast this season. While on ABC, the series featured a mixture of political intrigue and counter-terrorism suspense. With the influence of Netflix, the series may be able to go a bit deeper into both, possibly filling a void left by the departure of House Of Cards.  The series was created by David Guggenheim (Safe House, The Christmas Chronicles) and executive produced by Sutherland, Mark Gordon, Suzan Bymel, Simon Kinberg, Aditya Sood, Peter Noah, and showrunner Neal Baer (ER, Law & Order: SVU).

Designated Survivor season 3 premieres Friday, June 7th on Netflix.
