If only the walls of 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue could actually talk.

In the murder mystery comedy, The Residence, the hilarious comedy series has an eccentric detective solving a murder case at the White House, in which every staff worker and possibly a guest at a diplomatic dinner function is a suspect.

With hundreds of suspects, the police only have one night to uncover the mystery before the murderer escapes.

Here is the logline of The Residence on Netflix series:

132 rooms. 157 suspects. One dead body. One wildly eccentric detective. One disastrous State Dinner. The Residence is a screwball whodunnit set in the upstairs, downstairs, and backstairs of the White House, among the eclectic staff of the world’s famous mansion.

The series stars Uzo Aduba, Giancarlo Esposito, Edwina Findley, Molly Griggs, Jason Lee, Ken Marino, Al Mitchell, Randall Park, Dan Perrault, Bronson Pinchot, Julieth Restrepo, Mel Rodriguez, Susan Kelechi Watson, Isiah Whitlock Jr., and Mary Wiseman.

The book inspired the series written by Kate Andersen Brower titled “The Residence: Inside the Private World of the White House.”

LRM Online’s Gig Patta chatted with actor Mel Rodriguez on his latest project with The Residence. We discussed Bruce Geller’s character and the portrayal of one of his most serious characters on screen to date. He also talked about the behind-the-scenes with the cast and being in the recreated White House production set.

Mel Rodriguez is known for his versatile roles in comedy and drama. He is best known for being the lovable Todd in the Fox survival comedy series The Last Man on Earth alongside Will Forte. In the Netflix adult animated series Carol & The End of the World, he voices Luis, a man finding comfort in daily routines as the end of the planet draws near. In CSI: Las Vegas, he played the quirky medical examiner, Hugo, and starred opposite Kirsten Dunst in On Becoming a God in Central Florida.

His other credits and appearances included Getting On, Electric Dreams, Community, Grace and Frankie, Big Love, Workaholics, After Party, Little Miss Sunshine, Panic Room, and The Three Burials of Melquiades Estrada.

The Residence is currently streaming on Netflix today.
