Movie fans know that Hollywood is in constant search of the next big piece of intellectual property. After all, films are a hefty investment, and the more likely they are to have a return on their investment, the more likely they are to follow through with an actual film.

Recent years has seen strange properties like PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN and BATTLESHIP make the jump to the big screen, and as strange as those were, there are still plenty of similar films coming down the pipe that are equally as strange.

On that list of films is THE ANGRY BIRDS MOVIE, a film hoping to capitalize on the craze that was the tablet and smartphone game ANGRY BIRDS. Thus far we’ve had a couple trailers, but with their latest, it seems they may have finally found a way to sell the film to a skeptical moviegoing audience.

Check out the new trailer below!

There is a definite feeling while watching the first half of the trailer that this is nothing more than a cash grab from the studio. However, as the trailer went on, I couldn’t help but appreciate the way the filmmakers were able to incorporate the premise of the game into the plot itself. It was clever, funny, and surprising.

Will the film end up being worth seeing? We’ll have to wait and see.

THE ANGRY BIRDS MOVIE comes out on May 20, 2016.
