Marvel Studios’ Black Widow is one of two big film projects this year. The other one that will be released in the fall will be an entire new group of heroes The Eternals. We know that Scarlett Johansson’s Natasha Romanoff aka Black Widow, sacrificed herself in last year’s Avengers: Endgame in order to obtain the Soul Stone. By doing that Clint Barton aka Hawkeye was able to return to his family. So although going forward we have seen the last of Black Widow, this May Marvel Studios will take us back to a time between Captain America: Civil War and Avengers: Infinity War where agent Romanoff has some unfinished business to take care of. Recently we had seen a trailer for the action packed film. Last night, they released a special look at Black Widow with a minute and a half clip. You can check it out above!
As we can see by the footage, Natasha will be reuniting with characters from her past for example Yelena Belova, played by Florence Pugh as well as Red Guardian, played by David Harbour. But it seems like she is going to be introduced to a brand new villain in the MCU, the trained mercenary, Taskmaster. By the looks of the footage he seems to be up to the challenge to face Black Widow. He has looked great in the small sample size of footage we have seen of him.
In case you need a little background, Taskmaster has the ability to absorb knowledge as well as replicate the skills of anyone that he observes. Although he mostly takes on the role of a villain, there have been some times where he has worked with the U.S. government as a combat instructor. He was created by David Michelinie and George Perez and first appeared in Marvel Comics’ The Avengers #195 in May of 1980.
By the looks of the footage that we have seen so far, it seems like Black Widow is going to be an action packed film as we explore some of Black Widow’s past. What did you think of the new footage? Let us know in the comment section below!
Marvel Studios’ Black Widow hits theater May 1st, 2020.
