Check out this new casting roundup for The Rings of Power Season 2. Plus some Celebrian rumors/speculation to add into the mix. The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power Season 2 is filming right now. We know at this point there is a crew in Tenerife and whatever they’re filming has at least one Harfoot. However filming is also likely still happening in the U.K. also.
The following casting reports are unconfirmed, however I have a feeling these are all legit. Currently there is no reports of exactly which characters any of these actors are playing. No doubt some of them are just minor roles. However, the first one we will discuss could be a much larger role potentially.
Redanian Intelligence (great hit rate) reports that Celeste Dodwell has been cast in an undisclosed role for Season 2. Check it out.
We’ve learned that English-Australian actress Celeste Dodwell has joined the second season of The Rings of Power as a character codenamed ‘Erseilil‘. Her character’s real name is currently unknown.
Celebrian?
However there are some rumors here. Recently there has been some generic rumors and speculation that Celebrian could show up in Season 2. Fans have now started linking those Celebrian rumors with this casting for Dodwell. For me, there isn’t any clear evidence to support this theory. However, there are also no valid reasons to discount the speculation either. Ultimately for me it would be weird if Celebrian doesn’t show up in this show. For those that don’t know, Celebrian is Galadriel’s only daughter. Eventually Celebrian will marry Elrond and mother three children with him, one being Arwen who I’m sure you remember form the movies.
That being said, there are also some issues with Celebrian turning up. Would it not seem strange for Galadriel’s daughter to not have said goodbye to her mother when she was heading for Valinor? Will they do a flashback to show she was there the whole time, or was she somewhere else, possibly with her father Celeborn? I just can’t see Galadriel getting on that boat before she’d seen her family. Unless the show is going to go down some route where Galadriel had become estranged from her husband and daughter at this point. However….I would not like that.
No solid rumors on this so far, but we will see.

No real comments to make on any of these. Given how much brand new story needs to be created for this show we can’t really look to the book sources for inspiration. Sure we can point to certain events that need to progress in Season 2. Sauron taking over Mordor needs to happen, plus the forging of the other Rings of Power. Eventually after both these events happen we need Sauron to go to war with the Elves in Eregion. However that could be Season 3 for all we know? The time compression means I can’t even begin to predict what happens with Numenor in Season 2. I mean, I know where the story is going eventually. However where we go in Season 2, well, I would just be guessing.
