Here is a crazy thought, if we go back over twenty years to 2003, that is the year that Disney premiered two live-action feature films based on two of their iconic rides in their parks. These films were “The Haunted Mansion” and “Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Peral”.
While the Pirates franchise went on to make five films, not much has been done with the ghosts that reside in the spooky mansion. Now fast forward to 2023 and we are getting ready for the release of the re-imagination of the iconic theme park attraction into a new film that is set to re-appear in theaters on July 28.
This week Disney has released a new trailer and poster for “Haunted Mansion” that you can check out below!
The trailer for “Haunted Mansion” really feels in line with the same studio that brought us all of the adventures of Pirates of the Caribbean. I am also a bit surprised at how dark it seems, which has me asking if Disney will actually turn up the scares for this film. Or if this is a case where it’s just the way the trailer was put together. I am also very curious about the balance between the scares and laughs that this will without a doubt have.
“Haunted Mansion” is directed by Justin Simien. It features an all-star cast that includes LaKeith Stanfield, Tiffany Haddish, Owen Wilson, Danny DeVito, Rosario Dawson, Chase W. Dillon and Dan Levy. With Jamie Lee Curtis and Jared Leto as The Hatbox Ghost.

Here is the synopsis for the film provided by Disney:
Inspired by the classic theme park attraction, “Haunted Mansion” is about a woman and her son who enlist a motley crew of so-called spiritual experts to help rid their home of supernatural squatters. The film’s producers are Dan Lin and Jonathan Eirich, with Nick Reynolds and Tom Peitzman serving as executive producers.
Disney’s “Haunted Mansion” will appear in theaters on July 28.
