New DCU boss James Gunn has a message for fans. The director and now executive took to Twitter to send a message to fans of DC. There have been fans clamouring over two campaigns, specifically the desire to see the Ayer cut of Suicide Squad and also to save the CW show Legends of Tomorrow. However whilst Gunn addressed these wants, he also focused more on everyone being excited for a future that is bright rather than looking to the past. Check out Gunn’s message I’ve fully transcribed below, then you will see the first chain of Tweets below that if you want to view the full conversation.
“Opened up Twitter at the end of a long, creative weekend to see the many tweets to #SaveLegendsofTomorrow & #ReleaseTheAyerCut & fan support for other DC projects over the years. The majority of these requests were enthusiastic & respectful.
As the new (& first ever) CEOs of DC Studios, Peter & I think it’s important we acknowledge you, the fans, & let you know we hear your different desires for the pathways forward for DC.
Although our ability to interact on Twitter has been lessened due to the workload of our new positions, we are listening & open to everything as we embark on this journey, & will continue to do so for the next few years.
But all our initial focus is on the story going forward, hammering out the new DCU, & telling the Biggest Story Ever Told across multiple films, television shows, & animated projects.
We invite all of the DC fandoms from across the multiverse — and everyone else as well — into this new universe. We can’t wait to reveal more.”

As someone who didn’t watch Legends of Tomorrow I won’t comment, but I know what fans want is for the ending to be filmed. There is nothing worse than a show that ends before the ending. Maybe they could make a special for HBO? As for the Ayer cut I have zero interest in that film no matter how much better the Ayer cut is. Instead I want to see what Gunn and Safran do now in the DCU going forward. I think fans need to get away from all these gripes about the previous stewardship and just see what happens from here. Though, I guess as always, it’s a matter of opinions.
