Is Fin Fang Foom in Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings? It’s long been rumored that the Shang-Chi movie will also introduce the gigantic villainous dragon as a sort of MacGuffin. The rumored plot of Shang-Chi has a fighting tournament in which the victor will receive the Ten Rings of power. Rings that originally belonged to the dragon Fin Fang Foom. However, no one knows for sure whether Fin Fang Foom will actually appear?
The folks over at Murphy’s Multiverse have been told that the big set we have all seen images of is actually called “The Valley of the Sleeping Dragon”. Going by the comic book lore, this is the resting place of Fin Fang Foom, an alien creature who once attempted to conquer Earth with his fellow Makluans. The warriors of this valley have for generations guarded Fin Fang Foom to ensure he remains asleep. The large structure seen in set photos (check the related link below) is supposedly called the battle dome. Surrounded by an area where the village’s warriors hone the skills necessary to protect Fin Fang Foom.
It seems likely that the aforementioned fighting tournament will mostly take place in this battle dome. Now, this leads us back to one of the earliest rumors we had about Shang-Chi which came from 4Chan. At the time I covered this as less of a rumor and more of a damn good idea. However, the more we hear about Shang-Chi, the more those early rumors seem to check out. After reading the rough plot on 4Chan, I immediately thought of a cross between Mortal Kombat and Enter the Dragon. Well, with some MCU flair of course. The idea of various super-powered beings going toe to toe in a fighting tournament certainly ticked my fan boxes.

At that time though, while we knew the Ten Rings likely came from Fin Fang Foom, I didn’t think we’d actually see him. Now, I’m not so sure about that. Could Fin Fang Foom rise again and have to be defeated by the new owner of the Ten Rings at the movie’s climax? That’s nothing more than a guess on my part, but I’d be surprised if Fin Fang Foom does not make it on screen at some point.
