New Episodes Of Double Dare Are On Their Way To Nickelodeon

Well, folks, another reboot is coming our way, this time in the form of an 80s children’s game show. The once popular Nickelodeon game show Double Dare is returning to the network, having 40 new episodes ordered. When I was a kid I wanted nothing more than to befriend a crazy old man who had a time-traveling DeLorean and to go on Double Dare. The show puts contestants through various challenges of mental and physical type, as well as allowing kids to get dirty, really dirty, like covered in slime dirty.

While the smaller physical challenges throughout the episode were fun (and watching some YouTube clips of the original show, some were extremely difficult) the ending obstacle course was where the real fun was to be had. The last part of the show, where the contestants could win prizes, was all about finding the flag. The flag may be under some giant pancakes or in a bucket of some random slop, but to advance through the course, you had to find the flag and pass it to your partner.

Hosted by Marc Summers the show’s original run lasted from 1986-88 and was wildly popular among teens and even young adults. At times the show had appearances from of the time celebrities such as Weird Al Yankovic, David Faustino and the original Incredible Hulk, Lou Ferrigno.
