Not long ago, word came that Tina Fey and Ted Danson would be working together on new series. As it were, that series originally a spinoff of 30 Rock, and the focus would have been Alec Baldwin’s Jack Donaghy character, who would leave his position as General Electric chairman and pursue a career in politics as the Mayor of New York City. This Alex Baldwin-led spinoff series would have aired on Comcast’s still nameless streaming service.
According to THR, Baldwin left the project after nearly a year of negotiations. This caused Tina Fey and Robert Carlock, to pursue TV veteran, Ted Danson to step in. Danson, who lives in Los Angeles, would have had to move to New York for the show, and he was unwilling to do so, causing Fey and Carlock to move the show’s setting out west, and removing anything that would associate it with 30 Rock.

I’ve seen 30 Rock from start to finish several times, and countless random episodes I happened to catch on television. So I’m somewhat disappointed to learn 30 Rock spinoff with Baldwin in the lead as ultra-conservative capitalism aficionado, Jack Donaghy. It would be nice to see him squeeze the mind grapes of his political opponents.
I will give just about anything that has Tina Fey’s name on it a chance, so even though it’s not a 3o Rock spinoff
Danson is no stranger to television shows, having broken out as the ex-Red Sox player turned bartender, Sam Malone, on one of the most beloved sitcoms of all-time, Cheers. He has since had starring or recurring roles on a number of television shows including what is probably my favorite of his roles, himself, on Curb Your Enthusiasm. Danson has tons of other acting credits and is currently shooting the fourth and final season of The Good Place.
