New Year MCU Rumor Roundup

Marvel rumors roundup as according the Barside Buzz we have a Hulk movie, a Young Avengers movie and the next phase will be the Mutant Saga.

Today we have a bit of a New Year MCU rumor roundup. Over the last day scooper Daniel Richtman has been sharing some MCU rumors on his Patreon service, but don’t worry I gotcha covered. I will say that some of these rumors I find totally believable and others less so. However Richtman has a decent record when it comes to MCU scoops, less so Star Wars, so judge for yourself on a case by case basis. Here is your MCU rumor roundup.

Armor Wars

The first thing to discuss is that Richtman says that Robert Downey Jr. is in talks for an appearance in Armor Wars. The Disney+ show details are slim, but we know it will revolve around War Machine, aka Rhodey. Richtman is unsure if this is for a flashback, or perhaps even an AI voice? I have always been resistant to the idea of RDJ’s return as Tony, however an AI voice, I could get behind. Of all the projects currently in development, I guess Armor Wars would make some sense. Though, I’d be just as happy to not see RDJ, even in voice only for a while yet. Ironheart with Tony as Riri’s AI would be pretty cool for example.

Venom 3

Next up Richtman says that Tom Holland is currently in talks for Venom 3. At this point we have still to see Venom: Maximum Carnage, but as yet there is no connection between Venom’s Universe and the MCU. Could that all change in Spider-Man 3, you betcha, and I have always felt like this is Sony’s endgame for Tom Holland. Though, one does wonder if Sony and Marvel could get into bed with one another even further and really integrate the VenomVerse into the MCU? Guess we will have to wait and see on that front?

Spider-Man 4

This is a rumor I have a harder time getting behind. Richtman says that a Spider-Man 4 is being developed and that Norman Osborn (Willem Dafoe) and Dock Ock (Alfred Molina) will feature. Now, far as we know, the current deal with Sony and Disney is for one more solo movie (Spider-Man 3) and one team up movie. It is possible as said above that this deal has been extended between Sony and Disney, but we have had no word of that officially. With the fact that Molina is confirmed for Spider-Man 3 and Dafoe rumored, I just can’t see why Spider-Man 4 would feature both characters. However, that’s based on what we know now, and things could change after we see Spider-Man 3?

Young Avengers

Young Avengers is a show or movie that has been rumored from multiple sources. Given a few official details, there is  a good chance we will be getting Young Avengers in some form. Richtman says that he now thinks Young Avengers is a Disney+ show and not a movie. He also says that Young Avengers will be the biggest budget of all the Disney+ shows in development. Now, this I can definitely see happening. I always felt like a Young Avengers event would be better served as a Disney+ show than a movie. If true this show could be the streaming equivalent of that first Avengers team up movie in 2012?

If I had to guess at who some of those Young Avengers would be? First off is obvious, Kate Bishop. We know Kate is in Hawkeye, and that’s why the character seems best placed for now. We also know that the older Cassie Lang has been recast for Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania. This would appear to indicate that Cassie has a larger role going forward and that once again leads into a potential Young Avengers. There are also rumors that Finn Wolfhard (Stranger Things) will be a younger version of Loki in the upcoming Loki Disney+ show.

Other than those mentioned above we have another two seemingly obvious choices. Riri Williams (Ironheart) and Kamala Khan (Ms. Marvel) have their own shows, both could eventually lead to Young Avengers?

What do you think of this Daniel Richtman focused MCU rumor roundup? As always, if you can, leave your thoughts below.
