Nostalgia is hot! I like it, you like it, even Mikey like’s it. From shows like Stranger Things to the reboot of Double Dare, the nostalgia train is full steam ahead in today’s pop culture. With that in mind, I am pleased to tell you (and Mikey) that your favorite 90s shows from Nickelodeon are coming to the VRV streaming service.
The channel, which will be called NickSplat, will feature a selection of animated and live-action shows such as All That, Doug, The Wild Thornberrys, and Kenan and Kel. There are up to 30 shows that will be announced later.
I don’t know about you but I am hoping to see Are You Afraid of the Dark, The Adventures of Pete & Pete, and Aaahh!!! Real Monsters. I used to love these shows and many more!
The 90s had a host of great programming across multiple channels and I miss the joy of waking up Saturday morning for cartoons. Cable and satellite channels like Cartoon Network have killed the Saturday morning and weekday afternoon cartoon blocs. We traded those events for access at any time of day and I feel it’s bittersweet. I love being able to stream shows or watch on demand, but there’s something I miss about yesteryear. I guess I could always stream the shows on Saturday morning right?

VRV currently offers 12 channels in its premium service and contains such things as Funimation, Shudder, and Crunchyroll. The company, owned by Ellation, is planning a nationwide tour of sorts to celebrate the launch of NickSplat. This event will have nostalgic activities, shows, and provide a Saturday morning cartoon necessity… cereal. It kicks off in Santa Monica, California on the weekend of the 7th of September.
VRV will include NickSplat with its $9.99 premium bundle or you can purchase it a la carte for $5.99.
