According to some new Barside Buzz, there’s NO Indiana Jones reboot happening and NO Obi-Wan Kenobi Season 2 in development. Of course this is a debunk of two rumors we have shared here at LRM and I’ll link to both here. The new information in today’s Barside Buzz comes from Jeff Sneider on his The Insneider Newsletter.

Now, I guess the only reasons to come here is that I curate the rumors. Hopefully those that do read LRM know I only share the most likely rumors and best sources. With that in mind… Sneider is probably the best source for Star Wars news anywhere right now. He’s beaten the trades to several stories, sometimes way in advance, sometimes by hours or days.

I’ll also say, that I had my doubts about both previous rumors at the time, so I’m backing Sneider on this one, kinda.

Let’s start with Indiana Jones,

Recently, our own Andre Joseph shared a rumor begun by DisInsider. Basically it said Indiana Jones was getting a new cast, page one reboot. Here’s what Andre said he thought of the news at the time.

“I have my doubts about the validity of DisInsider’s report, given Disney’s mandate for Lucasfilm to concentrate on saving Star Wars. It’s all the studio has left, given the disappointing performances of Dial of Destiny as well as the Willow series for Disney+. A page one reboot is simply something that I cannot imagine longtime fans screaming for.”

I never felt the need to add anything myself because Andre pretty much covered my thoughts. Press F to doubt, right?

As for the second part? (Don’t worry we are getting to what Sneider said, I’m providing some context.) We recently shared a rumor from Daniel RPK that a Season 2 of Obi-Wan Kenobi was in Development.

At the time what I said was, how do we define ‘in development’. I’ve heard the odd rumble myself. Far as I can tell, Lucasfilm are still exploring whether there is material and room for a new series. If you define that is ‘in development’ then I agree with Daniel. He didn’t give much more context though, so perhaps that’s all he was hearing as well? I finished by saying I think we are still quite far off an Obi-Wan Kenobi Season 2 being announced. However, I’m no insider so judge for yourself.

Here’s what Sneider said,

“I don’t know if this will make you happy or break your heart, but no, there isn’t an Indiana Jones reboot in the works at Lucasfilm, nor is the company working on Season 2 of Obi-Wan. I know that Ewan McGregor was “hopeful” that he’d get to don Obi-Wan’s robes once more, but insiders say that despite rumors, there are no plans for a second season of the show. When it comes to a galaxy far, far away, Lucasfilm currently has bigger fish to fry.”

“As for Indiana Jones, a reboot is inevitable, sure. But that’s many, many years away. So, anyone holding their breath for an announcement at D23 next year may want to exhale, as it isn’t happening. As I’ve previously said, Lucasfilm is focused on righting the Star Wars ship on the big screen, and Kathleen Kennedy is getting ready to depart and hand the company reins to two of her executives. No one is thinking about Indiana Jones, let alone who will play him. All due respect to Glen Powell, Chris Evans, and Pedro Pascal.”

Pretty much as both Andre and myself said in our original coverage. Therefore, I’m siding with Jeff on this one folks.
