No Mark Ruffalo Did NOT Say Hulk Was In Brave New World

Despite some headlines you may have already seen, no, Mark Ruffalo did NOT say Hulk was in Brave New World. Sadly, I know that a lot of the fan base were really excited about the upcoming Captain America film when they thought Ruffalo was saying he was in. However, it’s simply a miscommunication.

In the video below, some sites reported that Mark Ruffalo conformed he was in Captain America: Brave New World. Time stamp starts around 08:47 if you wish to take a look. However when I saw the video, after reading headlines, my initial reaction was different. I didn’t think Ruffalo was revealing he’s in Brave New World. I felt like he was agreeing that comes next and it’ll be great.

It could be read either way perhaps? However, since then we have an article from Variety, who’s sources have clearly been quick to nip this one in the bud. Variety has been told Ruffalo misspoke and ultimately that my take above was the correct one.

Here is what was reported by the trade.

‘Alas, according to multiple sources, Ruffalo is not actually going to be in “Brave New World.” Instead, he misspoke, thinking he was agreeing that “Brave New World” is one of Marvel’s next films, not that he was going to be in it.’

I honestly am not surprised to read this. If Variety hadn’t published this, my headline would have been different, but I’d still have had doubts. Now there will be some who think this is just the Marvel PR machine debunking the surprise that Ruffalo has blown. I don’t think so, for a few reasons. For one, I don’t think they’d do Variety dirty like that, as it’s them who look bad. If you’re wondering who trades sources are, they are usually PR people at the studios who want information out there, sometimes unofficially.

Some will also point out that Brave New World is not next, that’s Deadpool & Wolverine. However, do you think Ruffalo knows all the release dates of movies he’s not in? Doubt it. I think he’s happy that he can talk about Brave New World because he’s not in it. Therefore, he knows nothing and can’t spoil anything.

Still, it is a bit weird granted that we have the return of Ross, probably as Red Hulk, Betty and The Leader, and yet there will be no Hulk. However, this is a Captain America movie, I think we must remember that.

What do you think as despite headlines, no, Mark Ruffalo did NOT say Hulk was in Brave New World? Well, that’s the official stance anyway for now. Disappointed? Thoughts below as always.
