No! The Acolyte Is Not Cancelled And No! Leslye Headland Is Not Fired – Wake Up

I don’t know if you’ve seen the latest batch of completely made up Star Wars rumors? However, let’s just be honest here. No, The Acolyte is not cancelled and no, Leslye Headland isn’t fired. Yet, there are some corners of the internet, including YouTube where those two rumors are being bandied about as gospel and getting big numbers. We also all know why those numbers are big, because some people are looking for what they want to hear rather than what reality actually is.

It’s a worrying trend for Humanity that we have so many people willing to lie to themselves in order to feel connected to a group they agree with. In this case we are of course talking about a group that has collectively become known as The Phandom Menace. However, this internet war has gone far beyond the boundaries of Star Wars. Almost every geek focused show or movie that gets developed is identified as a legitimate target for the woke vs unwoke crowd. One group of fans hates anything that they believe erodes the masculinity of their beloved franchises. And I have no intention of actually getting into that debate here. That’s is not what this editorial is about.

I won’t tell people what to think. All I can do is offer my own opinions, same as anyone who reads this article. But that’s not what is actually happening at the moment. Instead what we’ve had for quite some time is a group of content creators that are on one side of this argument making up fake stories, specifically when it comes to Star Wars.

No, The Acolyte is not cancelled and no, Leslye Headland isn’t fired.

The Sketchy Past

This is the same group of people who keep claiming that Kathleen Kennedy is fired, that George Lucas hates Disney and everyone involved. I think they’ve also said Disney is going to sell Lucasfilm back to George Lucas so he can retcon the sequel trilogy. I’m not going to name or give these ‘creators’ any promotion because they deserve none.

We’ve covered some of this garbage before, mostly on discussions Kyle Malone and I have had on The Cantina in the past. Here’s the thing, not one of these claims made by any of the usual suspects has ever happened. Not one. As therefore the years go by, we find Disney still owns Lucasfilm, still run by Kathleen Kennedy. We see images of George having fun when he drops into a set for a small visit. Then we have a sequel to The Rise of Skywalker announced with no mention of any kind of retcon for the sequels.

Yet, still the amount of people watching these videos and reading these fake stories increases. It appears this viewership base is unable to work out that none of these claims have ever happened, and therefore must have been lies. I mean, if someone says they’ll tell you your future and not a single things comes true, you don’t keep going back do you? Well, I guess that depends, as there are plenty pf people who know mediums are fake who still go back because ‘it’s fun’. Honestly unless you have a really below average intellect you cannot possibly, in your logical mind, believe any of this was ever true?

No, The Acolyte is not cancelled and no, Leslye Headland isn’t fired.

The Cult Of Hate

Look, I knew The Acolyte would be a big target because of the showrunner being female and LBQT. Then they cast a female LBQT lead (this is getting out of hand, now there are two of them) and you knew what was coming. Now if they want to argue about why they are against, whatever it is they’re against, then so be it. Make videos I guess? However, that’s not enough for some of these creators. They feel the need to generate ‘fake victory’ news.

This is a new form of propaganda, that I am aware of, so I’m defining as ‘fake victory’. The creator declares that something is going to happen their viewers want to happen. They then make it seem like this event was only possible through the sheer numbers of support that follows them. You can see the con clear as day. It’s what a lot of cults do. Feel part of this social group, interact with like minded people who share your outlandish views, and follow a charismatic leader. I’m not seeing the charisma with this one myself, but I’m also not a psychologist.

Ultimately here the supporters feel like they are making a change to what they are against by supporting the content creator, Really, the content creator, in this case a cult leader is just making money off them. It’s true what they say, there’s plenty of mugs out there ready to be conned.

Normally where this practice falls apart is when the fake victory is identified as being fake. The cult may fall apart outside of the most deluded followers. Ergo, the followers stay loyal because they feel part of something and they therefore willingly choose to ignore the evidence that none of these victories ever happened. Admitting the lie would force you out of your community.

The Acolyte

So, the latest claim from the people who brought you Krazy Kathy is that The Acolyte is cancelled. They claim an inside source who works with Lucasfilm has told them Leslye Headland got sacked also. Instead of announcing the cancellation (red flag number one) they are instead going to stay quiet and led it fade away. To be fair Lucasfilm has done this before, BUT NOT with a fully filmed series,

The Acolyte has wrapped, the stars have all gone and the show is in post production and expected to drop next year. Do we really think Lucasfilm has just abandoned all that money to cancel a show? What was the reason they give for it being cancelled? Usual, that it was a mess and it turns out Lesley Headland doesn’t actually know what she’s doing. The evil Krazy Kath discovered this and fired her, and cast the entire show to the bin.

Better yet, the only reason this one source alone has this information is because all the trades who have contacts within Lucasfilm are being paid by them, Even we here for having the audacity to defend Disney (I’m not defending them btw) are 100% on Disney’s payroll. Yeah…. Disney, if you read this, I’m definitely poor enough to be bought. (That’s a joke btw, p.s. Headland isn’t fired)

It’s ludicrous people and it would be the biggest news any trade has run in months if a show got cancelled that had this much money spent on it. I mean that actually would be dramatic enough that I’d expect to see Kennedy fired for that, so maybe that’s why they chose it?

Now some will argue, how can I know? Well I’ll refer you to point 1, The Past. I am not under whatever the spell is. Therefore, I can look at the previous claims of these creators and see not a single one has ever happened. This allows me to predict with some accuracy that future reveals from the same creators will also be lies. But hey, we’ve already seen one BTS feature for The Acolyte, but it’s not released yet. Will these creators admit they are wrong when the first trailer drops? Not a chance I’m afraid. They know they’re lying so they’ll already be planning what to say when the trailer then show drop. I’m guessing that external pressure from (insert some politician they dislike) forced Disney’s hand and saved Kennedy’s job. Oh dear, but the fight goes on, we won, despite the evidence.

No, The Acolyte is not cancelled and no, Leslye Headland isn’t fired.

Prepping the Feedback

Look I know a certain clientele will show up on the comments below and I know I’ll be made to look like some Disney shill. Truth is, I’m not a big fan of what Disney has done with Star Wars. I despised those sequel movies, they were horrible and ruined elements of the OT. However, I also didn’t think that damn much of the prequels either. I’m like OT, Rogue One, Andor and on the fence with Mandalorian in terms of what I really love.

Our views on the content are valid, even if we all disagree, they remain our own opinions. As said, that’s not what this article is about. This article is about people telling lies to make money of gullible cultists and getting away with it. This article is about trying to highlight how any susceptible people are being conned by all this and how this practice has now become a legitimate and legal way to make good money.

Wake up folks. Wanting something to be true and it being true are two very different things.

The Acolyte will release on Disney+ and when it does, you can chose to watch it or not. If you do watch it, you can say what you thought of it. However, the show is not cancelled and Leslye headland has not been fired. That’s all I wanted to say.
