No Way Home Is Highest Grossing Spider-Man Film And Sony Film Of All Time Already

Spider-Man: No Way Home Blu-ray extra's and deleted scenes

Spider-Man: No Way Home is highest grossing Spider-Man film and Sony film of all time already folks and it’s only been out two weeks. According to Box Office Mojo, Spider-Man: No Way Home has grossed $1,161,332,000. That number has the movie currently sitting at number 21 in the all-time list. Considering pandemic numbers for other movies, it’s fair to say this is impressive. The only current solo MCU movie ahead of No Way Home is Iron Man 3 and by the time you read this No Way Home may have even caught the other threequel.

For some context, even Star Wars: The Last Jedi is still ahead of No Way Home, but as said, this movie has only been out two weeks. I’ll predict that with word of mouth strong, No Way Home will end up around the same level as Avengers which is currently in 8th place with $1,518,815,515. Perhaps I’m being too optimistic during a pandemic? I honestly think if not for the current global issues that No Way Home would be pushing up into the higher echelons traversed in the MCU thus far only by Infinity War and Endgame.

Surprisingly Spider-Man 3 was the former solo champion for both Sony and Spider-Man with $894,983,373. However the most recent collaboration between Disney and Sony saw Far From Home reach $1,131,927,996.

I’d like to think what this shows us is that fans will still go to theatres, for an EVENT movie! If your movie can be missed, then people are currently willing to wait for streaming. For a movie that’s unmissable, and not coming to streaming within a week, like No Way Home, the people will venture out. Suddenly the risk becomes worth it for many people. I myself have only been to theatres twice since the pandemic hit, once for The Suicide Squad as my son was hyped, and then we both saw No Way Home. Shang-Chi I had to avoid spoilers till it hit streaming. Sadly with Eternals I knew the plot ages ago and therefore wasn’t that excited enough to go see it. It’ll be on Disney+ this January anyway.

The movie industry isn’t back, unless your movie is as hyped and frankly good as Spider-Man: No Way Home. Sadly Hollywood only produces a few movies like that a year and the rest are usually ten a penny.

Spider-Man: No Way Home is highest grossing Spider-Man film and Sony film of all time already. Have you seen it yet, how many times? Thoughts below as always.
