Obi-Wan Kenobi set 10 years after Revenge of the Sith! Check out the following press release sent out by Disney for Obi-Wan Kenobi. The release features cast members we didn’t know about and also gives us a timeline for the show’s setting. Check it out.
Obi-Wan Kenobi, the new Disney+ special event series starring Ewan McGregor as the iconic Jedi Master, will begin shooting in April. The story begins 10 years after the dramatic events of Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith where Kenobi faced his greatest defeat, the downfall and corruption of his best friend and Jedi apprentice, Anakin Skywalker turned evil Sith Lord Darth Vader.
Obi-Wan Kenobi is directed by Deborah Chow, director of two critically acclaimed episodes of The Mandalorian, Season 1.
The series also marks the return of Hayden Christensen in the role of Darth Vader.
Joining the cast are Moses Ingram, Joel Edgerton, Bonnie Piesse, Kumail Nanjiani, Indira Varma, Rupert Friend, O’Shea Jackson Jr., Sung Kang, Simone Kessell and Benny Safdie.
Obi-Wan Kenobi is executive-produced by Kathleen Kennedy, Michelle Rejwan, Deborah Chow, Ewan McGregor and writer Joby Harold. The casting director is Carmen Cuba.
Obi-Wan Kenobi will be available exclusively on Disney+.

This is the first confirmation we have had that Joel Edgerton and Bonnie Piesse will reprise their roles Owen and Beru Lars. Those two, along with the obvious Anakin and Obi-Wan, are the only new cast members we can 100% put a character name to. However, it is good to be able to attach a timeline to Obi-Wan Kenobi. Now we know the show begins around 10 years after Obi-Wan first brought baby Luke Skywalker to Tattooine. That would place Luke around 10 years old at the time of the show. Leia equally would be around the same age if for some reason she showed up though there is nothing to indicate that would be the case.
It would have been a bit weird for Obi-Wan Kenobi to not feature at least Edgerton as Owen. However I am glad they also got Piesse back as Beru for this. Edgerton was given almost nothing to do in either Attack of the Clones or Revenge of the Sith. Since then Edgerton has proved himself a fine actor and some scenes between McGregor and Edgerton would be great. It’s also great to know roughly where this show fits in the timeline and related to Andor. Andor I will guess is set around 5 years before the events of A New Hope, it could be sooner, but that’s my guess. If I am right that would mean Andor would be set quite a few years after Obi-Wan Kenobi. Though, this is all guess work for Andor.
What do you think of Obi-Wan Kenobi set 10 years after Revenge of the Sith? Are you happy Owen and Beru are back? As always leave any thoughts below.
