Gender-swapping franchises is a move that Hollywood has been making as of late. Perhaps the most prominent example of this was the Ghostbusters film, which disappointed at the box office a couple years back. Despite its performance, there was another similar project that still managed to get off the ground, and that’s Ocean’s Eight.

Ocean’s Eight is something of a spinoff or sidequel of the popular George Clooney-led Ocean’s Eleven franchise, which ended with Ocean’s Thirteen several years back. Would the idea of following his female cousin and a band of thieves actually work, or would it be another example of Hollywood being lazy in how they incorporate women into their properties?

Who says it can’t be both lazy and good?

From what we’ve heard, the film is actually pretty good, and it’s something that is now backed up by the new trailer. In it, we get to see glimpses of our thieves, played by Sandra Bullock, Cate Blanchett, Anne Hathaway, Mindy Kaling, Sarah Paulson, Awkwafina, Rihanna, and Helena Bonham Carter.

Like Ocean’s Eleven before it, it seems like a great mix of clever heist shenanigans and funny character interactions between everyone in the gang. What do you think of this new trailer? Sound off down below!
