Official Teaser Trailer for Netflix’s Army of the Dead

Zack Snyder is back to his roots in terms of zombie horror that is.

Army of the Dead looks like a fast-paced zombie action horror film that places the director back in the horror zombie genre. Snyder made his directorial feature film debut with Dawn of the Dead in 2004 that launched his career into action films.

For this film, Snyder has a knack for his visual style and pacing like a video game. With this trailer, it gives you the sense of dread from favorite zombie video games like Left 4 Dead, Dead Island, and Deadrising. It even has a brief look at one of the characters holding a baseball bat with nails that is a nod to a weapon often wielded by Frank West in Capcom’s Deadrising.

Here’s the logline of the film:

Following a zombie outbreak in Las Vegas, a group of mercenaries takes the ultimate gamble, venturing into the quarantine zone to pull of the greatest heist ever attempted.

The cast includes Dave Bautista, Ella Purnell, Omari Hardwick, Ana De La Reguera, Theo Rossi, Matthias Schweighofer, Nora Arnezeder, Hiroyuki Sanada, Garret Dillahunt, Tig Notaro, Raul Castillo, Huma Qureshi, Samantha Win, Richard Cetrone, and Michael Cassidy.

Zack Snyder directed the film from a script written by Snyder, Shay Hatten, and Joby Harold.

The trailer looks like a lot of fun as the small group of mercs must battle their way of Las Vegas from a horde of zombies. Getting into Vegas may be the easy part but leaving is a whole different story. So, this goes with the Las Vegas motto, “What happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas.”

Army of the Dead streams on Netflix beginning on May 21.
