Earlier this month, audiences heard the sad news that Hollywood icon Burt Reynolds had passed away Though while this was indeed tragic news, one question that came to mind was whether or not he had shot his piece for Quentin Tarantino’s upcoming opus, Once Upon a Time in Hollywood.
Sadly, it was revealed that audiences would not be able to see him take his final bow in the film, and with production underway, it was clear that they would need to replace him pretty quickly. Well, it looks like they’ve found their man, and Tarantino didn’t even have to go too far to find him.

Variety reports that Bruce Dern will be replacing Reynolds as George Spahn, a ranch owner who rented land to Charles Manson. It’s this land that served as the HQ for Manson’s family, where a lot of the cult-y stuff happened. As you may know, Tarantino’s worked with Dern before on Hateful Eight, where Dern played an old Southern Civil War hero and before that on Django Unchained.
Dern will be joining an ensemble cast that includes Leonardo DiCaprio, Brad Pitt, Margot Robbie, Luke Perry, Dakota Fanning, Al Pacino, Emile Hirsch, Tim Roth, Michael Madsen, and more!
