I’m actually fairly surprised. We’ve had a teaser and full trailer already — Onward is already getting a second trailer. With the film hitting in March, I figured they’d save it for at least January. However, given that one of Disney’s biggest releases of the year is hitting this weekend, I guess it does make sense that we’d be getting another to lead Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker.

So, what does this new trailer bring us? Not a whole lot, but it does give us more of a beat-for-beat of what to expect from the story, including their confrontation of the horrifying Manticore…who isn’t so horrifying after all, and is pretty much a part of a B-plot involving the mother.

Honestly, if you’re already planning on seeing it, I’d recommend avoiding this, but I do think it’s a stronger trailer, as it plays up the emotions more than the jokes, which I prefer. On a more negative side, they do advertise the voice cast again, which is a distinctly non-Pixar thing to do, but it ultimately doesn’t matter.

“Set in a suburban fantasy world, Disney and Pixar’s “Onward” introduces two teenage elf brothers (voices of Chris Pratt and Tom Holland) who embark on an extraordinary quest to discover if there is still a little magic left out there.”

Onward hits theaters on March 6, 2020.
