Kevin Smith Reacts To Star Wars: The Rise Of Skywalker

Surprise! He liked it. Yes, I know. No matter how the film turned out, I pretty much expected Kevin Smith to be on board with it. He’s very much a fanboy’s fanboy in that he genuinely enjoys this stuff on a visceral level and doesn’t necessarily like to break things down and analyze them like many other hardcore fans do. He can walk into a movie, turn off his brain, and go for a ride.

So, what did Smith himself have to say? Like many folks, he had a chance to attend the world premiere of the film. While there, The Mandalorian creator Jon Favreau gave him a coin featuring the character, and Smith was so smitten by the film, he said he’d give it up to see The Rise of Skywalker again.

“At the @starwars premiere, I saw @Jon_Favreau and he gave me a #Mandalorian  coin. If I could spend it to see #TheRiseOfSkywalker  again right now I would! EPIC ending to the Saga, in which J.J. gives us a satisfying and gratifying finale! (And they finally do right by Chewie!)”

So, “satisfying and gratifying” are the keywords here, and many Chewbacca fans will be happy to hear they do right by him. While he had some good scenes in The Force Awakens, that was seemingly marred by Leia seemingly ignoring him following Han’s death. And while Chewie did pilot the Falcon at the end of The Last Jedi, he didn’t do much else.

Will The Rise of Skywalker really mean The Rise of Chewie? Probably not, but hopefully fans of the furry Wookiee will be pleased.
