Further to all the recent news about a new The Witcher saga coming from CDPR, it has also been revealed by the studio that the original The Witcher game is getting a full next-gen remake. Whilst The Witcher was considered a great game at the time, I would not be rushing out to play it. Older, poorer graphics, fighting, exploration etc. However if this remake gives us something more akin to The Witcher 3, but with the story of the first game, then it’s a sure fire purchase from me.
However don’t expect to see The Witcher remake soon, as per the statement below, CDPR are taking their time and making sure they get this one right.
The Witcher 3 was the first Witcher game I played and I fell in love with it. Undoubtedly one of the best games ever made to me. I’ve since then been interested in both The Witcher and The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings. However they are very old games now and I’m not that keen on playing a near 20 year old game. The Witcher was released back in 2007, that’s before we even had an MCU. Looking at footage from that old game, it looks a tad…awful to me.
However if I can get that story wit the visuals and gameplay characteristics of the third game, then bingo. I’m sure that are many gamers like myself who’s first Witcher game was The Witcher 3. Unlike most remakes these days, this feels like a worthy project worth spending some money on when finished. If it turned out to be the same game with higher resolution, which most remakes are, then I lose interest. However that does not seem to be the case for this remake, unless I’m greatly mistaken.

Can’t wait for this. If it sells well, then I’m sure CDPR may think about giving The Witcher 2 the same treatment. Plus, we have that new potential trilogy of AAA sequels coming as well. It’s a good time to be a Witcher fan right now. Well for the games anyway, I know there are a lot of fans not loving the Netflix show yet. Hopefully there will be some feedback taken onboard when it comes to Season 3.
